That’s because, unlike timing belts, chains are designed to last the lifetime of the engine — in theory.
However, in reality, certain BMW engines are prone to premature wear or failure, meaning the chain may need replacement well before 100,000 miles. We often see timing chains needing replacement at 60,000 miles onwards.

We will carry out a full inspection of your vehicle and advise of any additional recommendations while replacing the timing chain. Completing any necessary work at the same time can often reduce labour costs and help prevent more expensive repairs in the future.
